the awaiting paws and teeth of curious curious cats | 09 May 2003 | 8:55 pm

two rotting baby birds have made taking out the garbage a completely different experience...the same with the fence-balance-maneuvering into the car.

it is a shame, really, that they died.

there is the loss of life, of course.
...there is also the loss of a kitten play toy - their anxious mother chirping and praying for fragile babies made for hours of interesting kitten amusement.
...there is the third option -- one not taken, nope -- but that of scooping up one of the babies, most likely soon to either starve to death or from internal bleeding, and depositing it on the inside of the backyard fence, instead of just beyond (mere feet), and into the awaiting paws and teeth of curious curious cats. we decided it best not to repeat the goldfish, our cats disappoint us as skilled hunters.
